Pleated aqua velvet on metallic dupion, double-fused, at an inch and a half. The pleating is the whole point — it gives a narrow ribbon the presence of a much wider one.
Narrow ribbon is what separates a good bow from a flat one. This is the layer that goes on top of a 4-inch bow, or streams down a garland between the big loops, or ties a napkin at a Christmas table.
Ten yards on a 1.5-inch roll is a lot of ribbon. It outlasts the wide rolls by a mile, which is why the pleated velvets are the ones people reorder.
Designed by John Mark of John Mark Enterprises, the Germantown, Tennessee florist and designer who has been making wreaths and bows since 2009.
